Identification

Dull yellow frons, yellow face with narrow brown median stripe, pair of small semicircular pale to dark brown spots above antennae,
scutum with yellow hairs, moderately bare wings and abdominal tergite 2 with pair of large yellow spots strongly narrowed medially and tergite
3 and 4 with broad yellow band shallowly emarginate medially (Vockeroth 1992).
Length: 7.0-11.0 mm (Vockeroth 1992)
Biology
Larvae of Eupeodes americanus feed on several species of aphids (Vockeroth 1992).
Distribution
Canada South to California, Texas, Mexico, and Florida (Vockeroth 1992).
