Identification

Robust body with densely haired eyes and strongly swollen bright to pale yellow face. Also, oval, flattened abdomen with paired pale yellow abdominal spots on 2- 5 abdominal tergites (Vockeroth 1992).

Length: 11.1-15.7 mm (Vockeroth 1992)

Biology

They are multivoltine (Vockeroth 1992). Larvae of Scaeva pyrastri feed on aphids (Family: Aphididae) (Vockeroth 1992).
